At the start of April, Think Audio Productions provided the audio equipment and team for Musical Youth Company of Oxford’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar at the Theatre at Headington.
Craig Bruce designed a sound system that had never been tried in the Theatre before. It proved a real success. Craig has worked on amateur productions in the past but has never worked with a young group as talented as this.
The main FOH system consisted of a single stack of d&b loudspeakers per side (C7 Sub & Top) along with a front truss loaded with four small passive speakers, used mainly for centre vocal fill. Front of house control was via a 32ch Yamaha LS9 fitted with 8ch extra input channels.
Colin Ashman completed the Think Audio team as production engineer, providing a wealth of experience drawn from his work on many large scale theatre tours as well as in the West End. Lucy Miles was our sound operator for the show and she enjoyed every moment. Lucy has worked with Think Audio for almost three years now and enjoys taking on the role of operator. ‘The show did create some challenges this year. The band were on stage left which made trying to mix the show tricky as the front row of seats where only a meter away from the band and speakers, Also with 20 radio mics live on stage for the majority of the show it was tricky to get the balance just right, but we managed it.’
Issy Howe was this year’s sound number two. This was Issy’s first venture into the sound side of theatre and did a wonderful job and enjoyed herself too.
